CANDIRIA Involved In Car Crash — Tour Cancelled

September 10, 2002

The members of CANDIRIA are recovering from a serious accident in which a tractor trailer hit their van outside Buffalo, New York yesterday morning. The group's official statement on the matter is as follows:

"The members of CANDIRIA escaped life-threatening injury after their tour van was rear-ended in New York State near Buffalo. The current CANDIRIA tour with 40 BELOW SUMMER has been canceled. The van was hit in the rear by a truck, the truck driver has admitted liability. John LaMacchia and Carley COMA were both flown by helicopter to a trauma center with injuries, now described as 'non-critical.' John reportedly has a broken collar bone. The band was en route from their show last night in Albany to a show tonight in Cleveland, Ohio. More details will follow..."

Meanwhile, 40 BELOW SUMMER have issued a statement of their own. It reads as follows:

"We are shocked to hear the news that CANDIRIA was rear ended by a semi after the Albany show last night. Although we understand that there are an assortment of injuries from broken ribs to concussions and broken collarbone, we are glad to report that there are no life-threatening injuries. We do know that their equipment and van have been totaled. We wish them a speedy recovery and hope all is well in their camp. Honestly, playing without them is something we don't want to do...but disappointing the fans who are counting on us will not make us feel any better. CANDIRIA is one of the most talented bands that we've ever shared a stage with and we feel terrible about this. We are continuing the tour, although the promoter has cancelled the Toledo show. PLEASE be careful when traveling, especially on long trips."
